Man arrested after threatening Howard County officers

WASHINGTON — A man was arrested Sunday afternoon after he allegedly walked into a Howard County police station and threatened the officers.

The Howard County police say a man walked into the Southern District station at about 4:40 p.m. Sunday and threatened the officers there, referring to possible bombs in and around the station. He was immediately arrested and is still being interviewed.

The station was evacuated, as was the adjacent fire station and several businesses in a nearby strip mall.

The police, fire department, fire marshal, Prince George’s County police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives conducted the search, but no explosive devices were found.

Charges are pending, and the police say the suspect will be identified once he’s charged.
