PALMER PARK, Md. – A Capitol Heights, Md. man has been arrested for the murder of a 71-year-old woman last week.
James Ward is facing one count of first-degree murder.
The victim, Geraldine McIntyre, was found stabbed to death Feb. 23 in her home at 1209 Chapel Oaks Drive.
Officials say she and Ward knew each other. McIntyre had offered to help Ward in the past, including feeding him.
The murder “shocks the senses,” Prince George’s County Police Chief Mark Magaw.
Police investigators say a break in the case came late Friday night when they recovered a stolen TV.
