Police release surveillance photos of Laurel Walmart shooter

LAUREL, Md. – Police in Anne Arundel County are hoping the public can identify the man who shot an employee at the Laurel Walmart early Wednesday.

Police released surveillance photos of the suspect.

Police say the suspect entered the store, approached the victim and demanded money. The employee handed over cash, and was then forced into the parking lot and shot. The suspect then took off.

At 4:17 a.m. Wednesday, officers found the the 28-year-old shooting victim in the parking lot of the store in the 3500 block of Russett Green East. He was taken to the Prince George’s Trauma Center with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

At 4:26 a.m., police say they located what they believe to be the suspect’s getaway car. It was on fire at Hammerstone Road and Mayaone Street in Laurel.

The suspect is described as a white man. At the time of the robbery and shooting he was wearing a dark mask, black pants, a black jacket and a gray or white hooded sweatshirt.
