WASHINGTON – Two teenagers have been charged as adults with first-degree murder in connection with Friday’s shooting at the Rockville Metro Station.

Sixteen-year-old Kevin Q. Nguyen, who lives on North Van Buren Street in Rockville, is charged with attempted first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a violent felony and first-degree assault.

Tavares D. Harris also of Rockville is facing the same charges. Police say the 17-year-old was with Nguyen on Friday.

Nguyen shot another teen just after 2:30 p.m. Friday in the tunnel exit of the station, officials say. A second victim was grazed by one of the bullets.

Nguyen was arrested less than 10 minutes later at a nearby gas station.

Police have linked Nguyen to his victim, and are investigating whether the shooting was motivated by an ongoing argument. The second victim is believed to be an innocent bystander.

Both people are expected to survive.

Police are still looking to talk to anyone else who saw the shooting and its aftermath. If you have information, call the Rockville City Police Criminal Investigations Unit at 240-314-8938.
