WASHINGTON– A small plane taking off from the Montgomery County Airpark in crashed on the runway on Saturday.
Montgomery County Fire Department officials say that the 50-year-old pilot has serious, potentially life threatening injuries.
Officials say the plane came down at the end of the runway from an altitude of up to 100 feet. It happened around 12:10 p.m.
A hazmat team was at the scene Saturday afternoon handling the fuel spill. No other injuries are reported.
The police did not release the male pilot’s name.
