WASHINGTON– Three teenagers allegedly solicited photos of naked and partially naked teenage girls and posted them on Instagram, according to Prince William County Police.
Detectives from the Special Victim’s Bureau began an investigation into possible computer harassment allegations on Feb. 17, according to a police department release.
The investigation revealed that three teens — a 15-year-old girl who attends Cecil Hylton High School in Woodbridge, a 14-year-old Woodbridge boy in a special computer training program, and a 13-year-old boy who attends Stone Wall Middle School in Manassas — had created several online Instagram accounts which featured dozens of photos of female juveniles from multiple schools within the Prince William County Public Schools system.
According to local news reports, the investigation was sparked by other students not involved with the photos reporting the Instagram activity to school authorities. Once discovered by police, the accounts were immediately shut down and owners identified.
Detectives further learned that no county school equipment was used by the suspects and no photos were taken within the schools or on school property. The photos were all reportedly obtained with the teenage girls’ consent, according to reports.
Following the investigation, the three teens were charged with one count of computer harassment.
