WASHINGTON – Two people were shot at a Hyattsville gas station early Sunday morning and police are investigating the shooting that left 19 shell casings at the scene.

Police say a man exiting a car at the Shell Gas station in the 5300 block of Queens Chapel Road shortly before 3 a.m. was shot in the stomach and the buttocks by an occupant of a dark-colored sedan seen driving around the parking lot.

Another bystander who was attempting to pay for gas was also shot and drove herself to an area hospital where she was treated for gunshot wounds.

The injuries to both victims are considered non-life-threatening.

Police say it was not a random act and are trying to determine if the victim and the suspect had been in an earlier altercation.
