WASHINGTON - An Alexandria, Va. deputy sheriff shot and killed a burglary suspect Monday night after finding the man inside his home, officials say.
The deputy sheriff told police he arrived at his Fort Washington home to find the front door damaged. Once inside, he was confronted by 20-year-old Jon Adgrain of Indian Head, Md., officials say.
The deputy shot Adgrain, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers say the deputy had interrupted a burglary in progress. Detectives believe more suspects may have been on the scene.
Prince George's County police would not say if Adgrain was armed. An investigation is ongoing.
Anyone with information is asked to call Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit at 301-772-4925 or Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-8477.
