Armored truck guard shot during afternoon heist

OXON HILL, Md. – Prince George’s County police are looking for masked men who held up an armored truck and shot one of the truck’s guards Tuesday afternoon.

Lt. William Alexander tells WTOP that Loomis Armored Car Service guards were delivering money to the Save-A-Lot in the 6300 block of Livingston Road when a silver four-door passenger car pulled up alongside the truck just after 1 p.m.

“At that point three to four men wearing masks and at least some of them with guns exited the car,” Alexander says.

Police say the masked gunmen confronted the guards and robbed the truck. One guard was shot in the upper body during the heist.

The guard was in serious condition Tuesday afternoon. However police say he is stable and is expected to survive. The second guard was not injured.

Alexander says police have not determined how many shots were fired

The robbers took an undisclosed amount of property from the truck and left in the silver car.

Police say the robbers are considered armed and dangerous.

Prince George’s police have posted two videos showing the suspects’ car.

Anyone with information about the heist is asked to call the robbery unit at 301-772-4905 or Crime Solvers at 1-866-411 TIPS (8477).
