Thursday - 5/24/2012, 1:50pm  ET

WASHINGTON - A local sports anchor is leaving the Washington market to head back home.

Fox 5's Dave Feldman, known as "Feldy" to some, is leaving for San Francisco where he grew up.

Feldman spent 12 years at WTTG and became sports director in January 2001. He earned four local Emmys at Fox 5.

His last day is Wednesday, May 30.

"It's bittersweet because I've been here 12 years, longer than I've ever worked anywhere, and you guys are all my family and I've loved it here at FOX 5," Feldman said during Wednesday's broadcast on FOX 5 News.

Feldman joins a growing list of sports anchors who have recently left the Washington area including NBC 4's Lindsay Czarniak and Hakem Dermish to ESPN, Channel 9's Brett Haber joined the Tennis Channel and Comcast SportsNet's Russ Thaler went to the NBC Sports Network.
