PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Philadelphia’s police commissioner says the manhunt for two suspects in a fatal carjacking is on hold, as detectives question two men who are believed to have information.
Police haven’t called the two men suspects. But Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey told a radio station (KYW-AM) that he believes “we don’t have to have a manhunt out there right now.” He said, “Let’s deal with what we have now.”
Police have been focused on the search since three siblings, ages 7 to 15, were killed Friday when they were struck by a carjacked SUV. Their mother was critically hurt.
Two other women were injured, including a real estate agent carjacked at gunpoint about a mile away. She was ordered into the back seat of her Toyota 4Runner as the men sped through North Philadelphia. Police believe they may have blown a tire before crashing the vehicle.
A $110,000 reward is being offered in the homicide case.
