Report: NY doctor tests positive for Ebola

WASHINGTON — The New York City doctor who was being checked for Ebola on Thursday has tested positive, The New York Times reports.

The doctor’s name is Craig Spencer, and he recently returned from a trip to Guinea, where he was treating Ebola patients, the Times reports.

He has been taken to Bellevue Hospital and placed in isolation while health care experts scour the city to trace anyone he might have been in contact with since returning to New York, the Times says. The federal Centers for Disease Control will conduct further tests.

The Times also reports that Spencer on Wednesday night traveled from Manhattan to Brooklyn on the subway, went to a bowling alley and then took a cab home. Thursday morning, he reported a fever of 103, the Times says.

We’ll have more as we get it.
