Amount of men receiving Botox treatments increases

WASHINGTON – After the New York Times reported Saturday that more plastic surgeons are pitching their services as a Father’s Day gift, WTOP’s Paula Wolfson did a little digging on the American Society of Plastic Surgeons website.

Surgical options like liposuction and eye lifts are gaining in popularity, but Wolfson also reports that the most asked-for procedure among men is actually Botox. The number of men receiving Botox treatments soared between 2000 and 2010, rising by 258 percent and earning the nicknames “boytox” and “brotox.”

Plastic surgeons say they have seen a surge of interest among men, who are now lining up with women for all kinds of procedures to look younger.

Some of these doctors say they have been getting calls from spouses about gift certificates – and there is no doubt that they are targeting men with more advertisements in June.
