Man breaks into Va. 82-year-old’s bedroom, steals phone, Firebird

WASHINGTON – Fairfax police are looking for a man who broke into the bedroom of an 82-year-old woman, grabbed her, disabled her phones then stole her car.

The woman, who has not been identified by police, was sitting in her bedroom in the 8000 block of Russell Road near Huntley Meadows Park in Alexandria Sunday evening. She got up from her bed where she was watching TV after she heard one of her windows smashed.

She went to the window and was surprised to find a man crawling inside, Fairfax County Police say.

The man grabbed her and forced her into another room. He disabled the home phone and took a cell phone, along with the keys to the victim’s 1989 gray Pontiac Firebird, which he used to flee.

Police recovered the car on Wednesday in the Beacon Hill area.

The woman did not require any medical treatment.
