Where are the best Valentine’s Day hotels?

WASHINGTON – It’s never too early to start thinking about a Valentine’s Day getaway, and you don’t have to look too far to find some of the best lodgings in the country.

TripAdvisor has released its 10th annual rankings of the best hotels in the world, as rated by the websites’ users. A couple of Washington-area hotels and inns make the cut.

Morrison House in Old Town Alexandria ranks 25th on the list of best hotels in the U.S., and 10th best for service in the country, according to the 2012 Travelers’ Choice Awards.

The Jefferson in downtown Washington comes in 11th for best luxury hotels in America.

A couple of nearby bed and breakfasts rank highly, too. Piney Hill Bed & Breakfast in Luray comes in at 19 and Maury Place at Monument in Richmond comes in at 25.

So which hotels are the best in the world? Here are TripAdvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Award winners:

Best overall: The Phoenix Resort, San Pedro, Belize.

Best bargain: HueNino Hotel, Hue, Vietnam.

Best all-inclusive: Garonga Safari Camp, Makalali Private Game Reserve, South Africa.

Best B&B/inn: The Twenty One, Brighton, UK.

Best luxury: Shangri-La Hotel Tokyo, Chiyoda, Japan

Best relaxation & spa: BollAnt’s im Park, Bad Sobernheim, Germany.

Trendiest: Villa Zest Boutique Hotel, Cape Town, South Africa.

Best service: Arcadia Residence, Prague, Czech Republic.
