WASHINGTON -- A couple ordered by a McLean, Virginia condominium building's management to remove an American flag hanging on the balcony will get to fly the stars and stripes.
Debbie Sunga, who is engaged to U.S. Marine Paolo Advincula, launched a petition on Change.org called "Let us fly the American flag" after security at the Rotonda Condominiums in McLean told the couple to remove the flag on their balcony on Tuesday.
Rotunda security asked the couple to remove the American flag from their balcony, along with a Marine flag "because it violates the condo association rules," Sunga says.
The general manager of the Rontonda, Jim Tracy, now tells Sunga the American flag will be allowed, but not other flags.
In another case involving a flag, a veteran in Florida could lose his home if he doesn't remove the American flag, according to CBS in Tampa. In Texas, another veteran is in a dispute with the apartment complex where he lives over having a flag on his balcony, according to Top Right News.
