WASHINGTON — Furloughed federal workers have had a lot of time on their hands over the last two weeks, but it seems some of them made good use of their time by logging onto dating sites and taking advantage of their unplanned time off.
Zoosk, a dating website, says of its 40 million singles, those who live in the D.C. area increased their activity by 91.6 percent the first week of the shutdown, and by 110 percent the second week.
The site says during week two of the shutdown, profile browsing jumped 46 percent in the D.C. area.
Members messaged each other 48 percent more than usual.
And finally, new users jumped 4.3 percent the first week, and 17.6 percent the second week, Zoosk says.
