Two D.C. pharmacies seek grocery-store status to sell beer

Two pharmacies on Connecticut Avenue in the District are trying to claim full-service grocery store status in order to get a Class B license to sell beer and wine, the Washington Examiner reported.

The Alcoholic Beverage Control Board is considering whether to allow the two businesses — a Walgreens and a CVS — to sell wine and beer. The District has a moratorium on Class B licenses. However, there is an exception for full-service grocery stores.
