HERNDON, Va. – A dead body discovered Wednesday afternoon near the scene of a fatal hit-and-run in Herndon has been identified as the husband of the woman who was killed after being run over.
Herndon police say the body, found in a creek that runs parallel to the scene, is that of 32-year-old Fitsum Gebretatios, whom police had been looking for after his wife was killed.
The woman has been identified as Simret Wodentensae, 35.
The couple lived near the site of the hit-and-run where Wodentensae was found dead early Wednesday.
A black Toyota Camry was found on the street after it had crashed into several parked cars. The Camry belonged to Gebretatios.
Police do not believe any third party was involved in either death.
Police are awaiting an autopsy on Gebretatios, who was found as officers searched the area surrounding the scene of the accident in the 600 block of Center Street.
The couple’s three young children were uninjured, and were placed in Child Protective Services Wednesday, police say.
