Parade and festival to close roads this weekend

Metro remains on spring break from weekend track work through next Friday, so you can expect another weekend of relatively smooth Metro travel. The Cherry Blossom Festival continues with a parade and street festival on Saturday. There will be several MS awareness walks throughout the area. And, the Emancipation Day Parade is scheduled for Monday.
In construction news, there will be daytime lane closures on U.S. 50 and New York Avenue, overnight lane closures on the Dulles Toll Road and a full closure of Interstate 95 High Occupancy Vehicle lanes in Virginia.

Sakura Matsuri Street Festival
After the Cherry Blossom Parade on Saturday, the Sakura Matsuri Street Festival will feature music, food, arts and culture from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
New York Avenue construction update
The The New York Avenue Bridge Rehabilitation Project continues this weekend, with daytime lane closures. Here's what you need to know:
Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project
On Sunday night, lane closures for the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project will be in place while crews finish a flyover bridge that crosses both the Dulles Toll Road and Route 7:
Walk MS 2012
The National MS Society sponsors several Ma href="http://walkdcw.nationalmssociety.org/site/PageServer?pagename=WLK_DCW_homepage">MS awareness walks this weekend. Walks are scheduled for Saturday in Bowie, Manassas, Rockville and Waldorf. Walkers will be in Reston on Sunday, and in the District next Saturday, April 21.
Emancipation Day
Emancipation Day is Monday, and the D.C. Department of Transportation wants everyone to know it will enforce regular rush hour restrictions. Emancipation Day is a legal holiday in the District, but federal government offices will be open. Typical weekday reversible lane operations will occur on the following roadways:
The Emancipation Parade will line up at the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and 3rd Street NW around 9:30 a.m., and the Emancipation Day Street Festival will kick off around 11 a.m. Monday at Freedom Plaza.
U.S. 50 lane closures
There will be some daytime construction on U.S. 50/John Hanson Highway on Saturday, as crews work on a $3.8 million safety and resurfacing project between the District line and Columbia Park Road in Cheverly. On Saturday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., expect a single lane to be blocked in both directions.
I-95 HOV construction
On Friday night between 11 p.m. and 10 a.m., the Virginia Department of Transportation will close the High Occupancy Vehicle lanes on Interstate 95 between Franconia Road/Exit 169 and Dumfries Road/Exit 152. Crews will be performing survey work related to the I-95 Express Lanes project.
