TODAY: WEATHER ALERT
Partly sunny, very hot; tracking PM storm chances
Highs: 93-98
Winds: South 10-15 mph
Another hot and humid day is expected with highs reaching the middle 90s and heat index values once again climbing into the upper 90s and lower 100s. Official heat alerts are likely to be posted by the National Weather Service. The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) continues a level 2 of 5 ‘slight’ risk for severe thunderstorms across much of the region Friday afternoon and evening. Damaging winds remain the primary threat, although isolated large hail is also possible. A cold front approaching from the northwest should lead to more numerous thunderstorms compared to Thursday. The exact timing remains somewhat uncertain, but the greatest risk currently favors the late afternoon and evening hours. High temperatures will likely challenge daily records at Reagan National and Dulles. Delmarva Beaches Friday: Rehoboth, Dewey, Bethany and Ocean City will be hot and increasingly humid with highs in the middle 80s to near 90. A southwest breeze will develop during the afternoon. Scattered thunderstorms are possible late day and into the evening, some potentially strong.

TONIGHT:
Storms ending
Lows: 64-68
Winds: Northwest 5-10 mph
Storms come to an end late this evening, along with decreasing clouds and falling humidity thanks to a cold front.

SATURDAY:
Mostly sunny; less humid
Highs: near 90
Winds: Southwest 5-10 mph
Saturday brings a welcome break from the heat and humidity. High pressure briefly builds into the Mid Atlantic behind Friday night’s cold front, delivering noticeably more comfortable air. Expect a mix of sunshine and a few passing clouds with highs generally in the middle 80s to near 90 degrees. Dew points will fall into the upper 50s and lower 60s, making it feel dramatically different from the sticky conditions of Thursday and Friday. Outdoor plans should have little weather concern, and Saturday night will be particularly pleasant with temperatures dropping into the 60s.

SUNDAY: WEATHER ALERT
Scattered clouds; PM strong storms possible
Highs: lower 90s
Winds: Southwest 5-10 mph
The pleasant weather begins to fade as humidity gradually increases and the atmosphere becomes more unsettled. The first half of the day should feature a mix of sun and clouds with temperatures climbing into the upper 80s. By afternoon and evening, scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop as the next weather maker approaches from the Great Lakes. Severe weather details remain uncertain this far out, however, plan for the potential of a stronger round of storms late Sunday into Sunday night. Anyone with outdoor plans should stay tuned for forecast updates through the weekend.
