Ditch the jackets: Summer-like temperatures coming to DC area on first weekend of spring

Ditch the jackets: The first weekend of spring will have summer vibes as it will be warm and sunny Sunday in the D.C. region.

During the afternoon hours, temperatures will have a highs in the 80s.

“We may be getting close to 90 in parts of the Shenandoah Valley for Sunday afternoon,” 7News First Alert Meteorologist Jordan Evans.

The good news is that it will be enjoyable warm weather.

“Humidity will remain low, so conditions will still be pleasant,” said WTOP Meteorologist Mike Stinneford.

But after that nice weather, the D.C. area could get some storms.

“A strong cold front approaches in the evening and may trigger some thunderstorms. Because the storms arrive after sunset and the humidity stays fairly low, a widespread severe weather outbreak is not expected, but a few storms could produce gusty winds and some hail,” Stinneford said.

Showers end Monday morning, followed by clearing skies and cooler air. Tuesday will be colder, with temperatures struggling to reach 50.

A warming trend begins Wednesday, and another cold front may bring showers by late Thursday.
