RICHMOND, Va. — We have reached Day 12 of training camp, and by this time the players are ready to go home. They have been practicing for 10 of those days and the routine is getting monotonous.
Defensive lineman Chris Baker and running back Silas Redd can’t wait to get back to their normal routines at home, missing one thing more than anything else.
“A good home cooked meal and being able to sleep in your king sized bed,” Baker said. “That’s always a plus.”
Does that mean he’s in a twin bed in the hotel at camp?
“No, I have a king sized there too,” he said. “That’s pretty comfortable.”
Redd couldn’t agree more.
“Me personally, I just miss my bed,” he said. “I’m tired of the hotel bed. Nothing against the Omni (where the Redskins are staying in Richmond), but I definitely miss my bed back home. Also, just being on a regular schedule. Camp schedule is a grind and a bit hectic.
Jason Hatcher agrees with his teammates, but with a nice touch.
“You miss your kids, you miss your bed, you miss your wife,” Hatcher said. “I’m about ready to go home. I enjoy the grind with my teammates.”
That’s definitely the best answer we heard.
The Redskins play their preseason opener on Thursday in Cleveland. They will then return to Richmond for practices on Saturday and Sunday before heading back to Ashburn.
