WASHINGTON — Alex Ovechkin has reached a benchmark that places him among the elite of NHL immortals.
With two goals Monday night against the Winnipeg Jets, the Caps’ winger hit the 600-career-goal mark, placing him among only 19 other hockey greats.
Ovechkin is just the fourth player to hit the mark in fewer than 1,000 career games. (Monday’s matchup with Winnipeg was Ovechkin’s 990th career game.)
The goal is also his NHL-best 42nd of the season.
