Police: Driver of stolen vehicle ran away after Petersburg, Va. chase

PETERSBURG, Va. (AP) — Police in Virginia are looking for a driver accused of stealing a pickup truck and leading officers on a chase.

News outlets report 19-year-old Robert Paul Pickett stopped the car in Petersburg on Sunday evening and ran away. He’s considered armed and dangerous.

Chesterfield police Lt. Justin Aronson told WTVR-TV the pickup had been reported stolen in Dinwiddie County. Police say Petersburg officers helped catch three passengers who also ran from the car after the chase.

Aronson says no one was injured. He says Pickett is wanted in Chesterfield County, Colonial Heights and Dinwiddie.
