Police officer injured after domestic disturbance call in Fredericksburg

WASHINGTON — A police officer was injured Monday night after responding to a domestic situation in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

The patrol officer was injured a little before 6 p.m. when he responded to the situation in the 1900 block of Airport Avenue, Fredericksburg police said.

It’s unclear how he was hurt, but police said he was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. The officer was later released from the hospital, police added.

Fredericksburg police said Virginia State police, Stafford County Sherriff’s Office and Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office were in assistance during the initial investigation.

No charges were made in the incident at first, but police shared an update around 10 p.m. that they had a suspect in custody. Charges are now pending against the offender, police said.

The incident is now being investigated by the Culpeper Field Office of the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminial Investigation.
