WASHINGTON — Virginia State Police say a 7-month-old girl who was abducted at knife point from her mother has been found safe in North Carolina.
Danville Police, the FBI, Randloph County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Secret Service arrested the girl’s father, 51-year-old Carl Ray Kennedy. Police announced the arrest in a news release.
The girl appears to be in good health and is being evaluated at a hospital. The child’s mother has also been notified, police said.
Police Emma Grace Kennedy was taken by her father, from the Kwik Mart in Danville, Virginia, after Carl Ray Kennedy assaulted the girl’s mother.
Police had issued an Amber Alert saying the child was in “extreme danger” but that alert has since been canceled.
Authorities said Carl Kennedy is registered as a sex offender in Asheboro, North Carolina.
