WAYNESBORO, Va. (AP) — A Winchester woman says her son is recovering after being attacked by what they believe was bobcat in Augusta County.
Stephanie Houghton tells media outlets that 31-year-old Kyle Houghton while hiking with this girlfriend Friday near Humpback Rock when he noticed the large cat.
Kyle Houghton believes the animal had been stalking his girlfriend.
His mother says the cat sprinted toward the couple before jumping on Kyle Houghton and biting and scratching his arm.
Kyle Houghton says he grabbed the cat, threw it to the ground and stomped on it. He then sprayed the cat with bear spray and it fled.
Kyle Houghton was taken to the hospital and given multiple rabies shots, which will be followed up with more shots in the coming weeks.
The animal has not been found.
