Lynx takes down Aces 100-86

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Alanna Smith scored 18 points, Kayla McBride had 16 points and eight assists, and the Minnesota Lynx beat the Las Vegas Aces 100-86 on Tuesday night.

All five starters for Minnesota (9-3) scored in double figures. Bridget Carleton and Courtney Williams each scored 15 points, and Napheesa Collier had 14 points, six rebounds and six assists.

Las Vegas (5-5) lost for the third straight game — for its worst 10-game start to a season since 2018.

Alysha Clark, Megan Gustafson and Kelsey Plum each made two 3-pointers in the first quarter as Las Vegas built a 31-29 lead. But the Aces only scored 29 combined points over the next two quarters to trail 78-60 entering the fourth.

Minnesota’s 20-point, fourth-quarter lead was trimmed to 86-74 with 4:39 remaining but the Aces didn’t make their next field goal until the 1:46 mark.

MYSTICS 87, DREAM 79

COLLEGE PARK, Ga. (AP) — Brittney Sykes scored 18 points in her first game since May 17, Ariel Atkins also had 18 points and Washington won their first game of the season, beating Atlanta.

Washington (1-12) avoided tying the longest losing streak in franchise history with the 2012 team dropping 13 games in a row.

Sykes, who had missed the past 10 games due to an ankle injury, went 4 of 6 from 3-point range in just 14 minutes and Atkins made all three of her attempts from distance. The Mystics made a season-high 17 3-pointers, with a make from eight different players.

STORM 95, SPARKS 79

SEATTLE (AP) — Nneka Ogwumike scored a season-high 26 points against her former team, Jewell Loyd added 21 points and Seattle beat Los Angeles.

Seattle has won seven of its last eight games, with the lone loss coming against Minnesota on Sunday.

Seattle scored on four straight possessions down the stretch to seal it. Skylar Diggins-Smith drove into the lane and passed it out to Ogwumike for a corner 3-pointer to make it 79-70. Diggins-Smith added a 3-pointer on Seattle’s next possession for a 12-point lead. Ogwumike capped the 8-0 run.

Diggins-Smith finished with 19 points, five rebounds and six assists for Seattle. Sami Whitcomb made three 3-pointers to finish with nine points. Ezi Magbegor grabbed 13 boards to help the Storm outrebound the Sparks 45-33.
