A teenager has been taken into custody following a deadly shooting outside a Metro station in Prince George’s County, Maryland.
According to the Metro Transit Police Department, 17-year-old D’Hani Rispus was arrested Monday in D.C. after the Sunday shooting that left a 19-year-old man dead.
Rispus will be taken to Maryland, where he is expected to face murder charges.
The shooting happened in the parking lot of the Southern Avenue Metro stop, according to police.
Rispus will be charged as an adult with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, firearm use in a crime of violence and possession of a loaded handgun, police said in a statement.
It’s the latest case of gun violence spilling into the Metro system, something Metro General Manager Randy Clarke condemned earlier in the month.
Clarke called the violence “sickening,” “deplorable” and “unacceptable.”
“We have an epidemic of gun violence,” Clarke said. “As a community, we need to figure out how to come together and stop this.”
Regarding the shooting outside the Southern Avenue Metro station, Clarke released a statement on Twitter, calling it “another preventable loss in our region.”
