New Carrollton apartment barricade ends with 3 in custody

WASHINGTON — Police barricaded an apartment complex in Prince George’s County, Maryland, Friday amid reports of gunfire.

New Carrollton police arrived at the 7600 block of Fontainebleau Drive at around 7:30 p.m. over calls regarding shots fired from a balcony, Prince George’s County police spokesman Jennifer Dolan said.

New Carrollton and Prince George’s County police officers heard three shots and began to secure the perimeter, setting up a barricade and asking people to shelter in place. Some people were not able to enter or leave the building.

Police witnessed three people leaving the apartment and took them into custody for questioning. After determining that no one was inside the apartment, police went in and located a weapon.

One person was fell while taking cover and had minor scrapes. The barricade was cleared around 10 p.m.
