WASHINGTON — Prince George’s County fire officials have determined that a suspected grenade brought into a county police station Monday night was actually an “inert non-hazardous replica.”

A man turned in the grenade to Prince George’s County police at their Palmer Park, Maryland, station Monday night, police said. He had found the replica while picking up garbage on Marblewood Avenue in Capitol Heights, NBC Washington reported.
According to police, the possible explosive was taken to the parking lot and a bomb squad was called in. The device was safely removed but technicians determined that it was not live.
