Pedestrian struck by police car in Prince George’s Co. dies

WASHINGTON — A Prince George’s County police cruiser hit a pedestrian as it headed westbound on the 2000 block of University Boulevard.

At about 2:30 a.m. Sunday, a marked police car was approaching Riggs Road when the driver hit a man who was not on a crosswalk, according to preliminary findings by police.

The officer gave aid at the scene until medical personnel arrived, but the pedestrian died.

Police also report that two other vehicles had almost hit the pedestrian before the officer struck him. Investigators are working to identify the victim and notify his family.
