Lawsuit claims Md. teacher ignored report about alleged child predator

WASHINGTON — A new lawsuit filed against Prince George’s County claims a teacher ignored a report of sexual abuse against an elementary school volunteer who’s now charged with producing child pornography.

Deonte Carraway, 22, is in jail on a $1 million bond facing federal charges.

The lawsuit claims Carraway forced a 9-year-old boy to have sexual contact with another child, The Washington Post reports. When the boy told his teacher at Judge Sylvania Woods Elementary School what occurred, the teacher said, “I don’t believe you” and “go sit down,” the lawsuit alleges.

The lawsuit is one of three such suits that accuse Prince George’s County of not responding properly to red flags in the case.

Police say they have identified at least 17 victims.

It is not clear whether the teacher who’s named in the latest lawsuit is on leave or still working at the school. A representative of the school system tells The Post they “cannot comment on personnel issues.”
