Prince George’s County police seek suspect who stole 4-year-old’s wheelchair

WASHINGTON – Police in Prince George’s County are looking for a suspect who was seen on surveillance video taking a 4-year-old child’s wheelchair.

On Sunday, the child’s mother left the wheelchair in her apartment building’s lobby on Merrimac Drive. Police say she typically leaves the chair in the lobby, as it is easier for her to carry her son to their apartment.

According to police, the mother went to get the wheelchair Monday morning, and found that it had been taken.

In the video, the suspect is seen pushing the empty wheelchair in a Langley Park apartment parking lot.

“This family already faces challenges and shouldn’t be burdened with the emotional and financial stress of the theft of this wheelchair. The suspect we’re looking for has no heart,” says Capt. Ken Humbel on the Prince George’s County Police Department’s website.
