On a per-share basis, the Springfield, Massachusetts-based company said it had profit of 99 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were $1.19 per share.
The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.12 per share.
The New England power provider posted revenue of $3.22 billion in the period.
Eversource expects full-year earnings in the range of $4.72 to $4.80 per share.
