The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of $1.74 per share.
The biopharmaceutical company posted revenue of $12.5 million in the period, exceeding Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $9.3 million.
Agios Pharmaceuticals shares have risen 14% since the beginning of the year. The stock has dropped 20% in the last 12 months.
