The Milwaukee-based company said it had net income of 76 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 82 cents per share.
The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 70 cents per share.
The electricity and natural gas provider posted revenue of $1.86 billion in the period, which fell short of Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.93 billion.
WEC Energy expects full-year earnings in the range of $4.80 to $4.90 per share.
