D.C.-area country club revenue surged during the pandemic. These clubs set the pace.

Country club revenue has been soaring nationally since the pandemic, and many Greater Washington nonprofit country clubs are seeing similar gains.

International Country Club in Chantilly set the pace, with revenue rising 54.5% from $9.19 million in 2020 to $14.19 million, according to its Form 990 filing.

A review by The Business Journals of more than 2,000 nonprofit country clubs and the Form 990 documents submitted by those organizations showed a median 24% increase in country club revenue between 2020 and 2022. The average percentage change in revenue among D.C.-area country clubs was +29.6%.

Other nonprofit country clubs in Greater Washington that posted big gains, according to their Form 990s:

Bretton Woods Golf Club in Germantown posted a 54% increase in revenue, from $5.12 million in 2020 to $7.9 million in 2022.
Bethesda Country Club in Potomac grew revenue 52%, from $11.86 million in 2020 to $18.05 million in 2022.
