The bank, based in Toronto, said it had earnings of $2.02 per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to $2.15 per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $2.03 per share.
The bank posted revenue of $24.52 billion in the period. Its revenue net of interest expense was $10.43 billion, also beating Street forecasts.
