Wharf penthouse condo sells for $12.7M, setting D.C.-area record

A penthouse condominium at The Wharf has sold for $12.76 million, which appears to be a record for most expensive condo ever sold in Greater Washington.

Penthouse 1 at Amaris, the luxury 96-unit condo building in phase 2 of the mega-Southwest waterfront development, sold to Anacostia River Management LLC Wednesday, according to D.C.’s Recorder of Deeds. The LLC was formed in Palo Alto, California, in January. The individual behind it was not immediately identified.

The previous record for a D.C.-area condo sale was set in March 2022 for a 5,500-square-foot penthouse at the Ritz-Carlton Residences Georgetown.

Penthouse 1 at Amaris spans 5,790 square feet of interior space across two floors with four bedrooms, five full baths and two half baths. There is more than 2,000 square feet feet of outdoor space, including a 1,200-square-foot terrace overlooking the water and The Wharf, a spiral staircase, plus three parking spaces and private elevator access.
