Be A Maker Club takes top prize at Covintus Tech Tank pitch competition

Be A Maker Club, an online platform that helps make 3D computer models focused on empowering female and BIPOC students gain entry into STEM fields and advanced manufacturing careers, took top honors at last week’s Covintus Tech Tank pitch competition.

The Upland, California, company led by CEO Zef Neemuchwala was one of six startups that participated in an accelerator program from Covintus, a software firm headquartered in Short Pump. The virtual accelerator concluded Aug. 16 with the pitch competition.

As the winner, Be A Maker Club won $25,000 in matching credit for software development, design and advisory services from Covintus.

“This has been my passion since I started teaching my daughter. It’s great to get some validation and a vote of confidence,” Neemuchwala said in a statement.

Recspert, a two-sided marketplace for families to find and connect with recreation experts, finished second and received $15,000 in credit. All six companies that participated in the accelerator…
