Devin Talbott, founder and managing partner of Chevy Chase investment firm Enlightenment Capital, is buying into D.C. United as a minority owner.
Talbott declined to discuss the specifics of his purchase into the Major League Soccer franchise. The deal valued the club at close to $800 million, according to a person familiar with the matter, who added that Talbott’s stake is “meaningful” and in alignment with a cadre of minority owners who were brought into the fold last year, including D.C. gas station magnate Joe Mamo, hip-hop artist Yo Gotti and NFL running back Mark Ingram.
“Devin has a broad network in D.C.’s business community and local soccer world,” said Jason Levien, CEO and co-chairman of D.C. United. “We are excited to add his business acumen and passion for the game, philanthropy and the District to D.C. United.”
