Prior to 2020, government contracting firm Avantus Federal had only four employee resource groups — one for veterans, a service squad, women’s networking, and health and wellness.

But LeNaye Willis-Lloyd knew there was more to tap into.

“For many of us, our world changed in 2020 with the pandemic, an increased focus on social justice, and political and economic upheaval,” says Willis-Lloyd, senior vice president of contract operations and the company’s DEI executive lead. 

Since 2020, Avantus has created Black Leaders Advancing the Corporation and Communities (BLACC), Working Families Group, Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) and Accepting Love and Life (ALL). “They are a huge driver for inclusion,” she says, as well as allowing for deeper connections within the company.
