This airline tech executive is bullish on blue skies for 2022. Here’s why.

From her office a block from the Clarendon Metro station, Lauri Reishus can see a great deal farther than you’d think.

Reishus was promoted in January 2021 to preside over Arlington-based Airlines Reporting Corp., overseeing 300-plus employees who provide technology and data that help the world’s major airlines process sales and spot such trends as spring break surges or Omicron-triggered slowdowns. Suffice to say, it’s been a challenging few years for the travel industry and ARC, which had topped $97.4 billion in transactions between roughly 230 airlines and 10,000 travel agencies in 2019.

She’s worked to overhaul the organization and, amid the Covid-19 pandemic, identify new revenue sources and cut costs to help make ARC financially independent of the airlines it serves. But just don’t ask her to help book your next flight — often the first question she gets when she tells folks what she does for a living.
