Ask Brad Halsey what his company, Building Momentum, does and the answer he gives is almost too simple: We solve problems. But those problems are anything but simple, whether they be for battle, in disaster zones, on aircraft carriers or for community centers. The quick-thinking, innovation-driven approach has earned Halsey and his team a “MacGyver” reputation, one the Navy veteran and chemist embraces.
When the pandemic brought the battlefield and disaster zones into our homes, communities and workplaces, Halsey and his ragtag two-dozen-strong team applied their tool belt (think 3-D printing, welding and robotics) to Covid-19. Within those first surreal weeks of spring 2020, Building Momentum — which is projected to hit $4.5 million in 2021 revenue — had developed a robot prototype that disinfects rooms with UV light and engineered a way to create masks for medical personnel.
They were just getting started.
