The PGA Tour Superstore, the professional golf organization’s exclusive retail partner, plans to open a new location at White Flint Plaza in Montgomery County.
The retailer has signed a lease for roughly 37,680 square feet, part of a former Shoppers grocery store at 5100 Nicholson Lane in Kensington, and aims to open in the spring, according to a company spokesperson. Grocery chain Aldi previously reached a deal with the center’s owner, Combined Properties, for a smaller, 21,600-square-foot piece of the same former Shoppers.
It will be the second PGA Tour Superstore in Greater Washington, behind one that opened in Fairfax earlier this year. The stores combine the sale of golf clubs and other gear with golf instruction, and the Kensington store will include a practice area, golf simulator and indoor putting greens, among other things, according to the plans.
CNNA Architects Inc., which designed the chain’s Fairfax store, has also been retained to design the White Flint Plaza location.…
