I’ve spent my career helping residents of our region realize their dreams of homeownership. And while not everyone can afford to buy a home, everyone deserves to have a home.
Yet, homelessness in our city is on the rise. According to a recent report by the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, the number of single adults experiencing chronic homelessness in the District increased by a staggering 21% in the past year. On top of that alarming trend, if the eviction moratorium is lifted, the region will undoubtedly see an even greater increase in homelessness in the coming months.
But homelessness is preventable, and the solution is simple. The cure for homelessness is a home.
