GMU finalizes master plan for the expansion of its three main campuses

George Mason University has finished the master planning process for its three main campuses, moving forward with the final designs for a $1 billion capital and academic overhaul.

The university’s design team outlined the final vision for its original and largest flagship campus in Fairfax, its science and technology campus in Manassas and its Virginia Square campus in a final public engagement session over Zoom Thursday morning. The final report will be released within the next few months.

Mason is committed to raising $1 billion through a capital campaign to cover the construction and development costs over the course of 10 years, said Carol Kissal, Mason’s senior vice president of administration and finance who is leading the university’s master plan process.
