Capital One Financial Corp. (NYSE: COF) has pushed back the reopening of its corporate offices to 2022, citing “uncertainty about the direction of this pandemic and the timing of a sustained improvement in health conditions across the country.”
The McLean-based financial giant has opted not to reopen its offices in a hybrid format Nov. 2. It first announced in June it would reopen in September, then in August delayed that until November. Hybrid remains the plan, but the company will no longer attempt to forecast a date as to when that might be implemented.
Despite “reasons for optimism” with cases coming down and vaccination rates ticking up, “the virus continues to surprise and frustrate humanity,” the company said. Its associates, including nearly 10,000 across Greater Washington, according to Washington Business Journal research, will be given 30 days notice ahead of the reopening, whenever that may be.
